What to expect from Complexity v. Imperial Valkyries

A win, surely?

Put simply, Complexity stands at the edge of elimination from an event where they have looked absolutely dismal. However, the team has their best chance of finally winning a series this year as they are set to face Imperial Valkyries, a team that has been a non-factor in the tournament. It is unthinkable for Complexity to lose here.

WE CANNOT BE LOSING THIS MATCH

If we take a step back from the hype, the essays on X, and the mushy proclamations about how Imperial Valkyries are a Top 30 team in the making, there is really no excuse for Complexity to lose this series or even drop a map.

At the end of the day, Complexity still has a core of players that have been to Majors and are capable of strong results on LAN, so losing to Imperial Valkyries and exiting Cluj-Napoca 0-3 would be a huge embarrassment that would relegate this team to being the butt of jokes on the HLTV Forums and X until the end of time. This isn't meant to be insulting towards the Valkyries, but they have had an awful showing at Cluj-Napoca, and only one team can be the first team to lose to a women's squad on LAN. Complexity really does not want to be that team after such a rough start to the year.

  • nicx and hallzerk need to WAKE UP

  • Why is JT the only one fragging?

  • A loss here would send Complexity down to 28th in the VRS

End of the honeymoon?

As previously mentioned, Imperial Valkyries are yet to best a male team on LAN, and Complexity really do not want to be the team to help break that record. Fortunately, the early decent results we saw from Imperial Valkyries at Katowice and BLAST have seemingly worn off, with the Valkyries being dominated on the server thus far at Cluj-Napoca.

  • 4/5 Imperial Valkyrie players are the worst rated players at the event

  • The team have won 16 rounds over four maps

  • This team has a lot of work to do after Cluj-Napoca

Previous Matchups

Complexity has never played Imperial Valkyries.

Likely Vetoes

As always, these vetoes come with the caveat that they are highly speculative as they depend on whether Complexity, as the higher-ranked team, chooses to pick first or ban last. We will assume they ban last.

  • Imperial Valkyries ban Anubis (Permaban)

  • Complexity ban Mirage (0 Maps played, Imperial fe's 2nd best map)

  • Imperial Valkyries pick Inferno (80% Winrate)

  • Complexity pick Train (COL have shown willingness to play map)

  • Imperial Valkyries ban Ancient (44% Winrate)

  • Complexity ban Nuke (0 Maps played)

  • Dust2 as a potential decider

Analysis: Looking at map stats here is a bit deceptive as all of Imperial Valkyries' wins have been against fellow women's teams. Therefore, while it may influence what maps Imperial want to play and feel comfortable on, Complexity shouldn't sweat the numbers too much.

I think Complexity could use this veto as an opportunity to finally whip Train out as Imperial may use their first ban on Anubis. This would be a good opportunity to sow chaos and take Imperial away from maps they are more comfortable playing.

Complexity will look to smash Imperial Valkyries and avoid an embarrassing 0-3 exit from PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025 tomorrow at 09:00AM.
