phzy fuels Wildcard over MIBR in PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025 opening round
Wildcard had a successful debut at the $1,250 million PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025 this Friday, February 14th as they narrowly defeated MIBR in a thrilling best-of-three series. This leaves the North Americans two wins away from making the playoffs as they're in the 1-0 pool of the Swiss group stage.
Wildcard picked Train to kick off the series against MIBR and what an entertaining brawl both teams put up.
The map went all the way to double overtime, in which Wildcard played flawlessly thanks to back-to-back clutches from the Swedish import Love "phzy" Smidebrant.
phzy carried the momentum to Nuke and helped Wildcard cruise to an 10-2 lead in the first half, as he was able to afford an AWP early on and secured many opening kills for the team.
That CT-side forced MIBR to pull a miraculous comeback in the second half, but that proved impossible after they fumbled the anti-eco to Wildcard. This left MIBR's economy in shambles and Wildcard made the most of the opportunity to close out the series fast.
