Complexity fall to The MongolZ in PGL Cluj-Napoca opener
Complexity lost to The MongolZ in the opening round of PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025 this morning, February 14th. The result puts Complexity in the 0-1 pool of the Swiss system group stage.
On top of that, the 2-0 loss to The MongolZ means that Complexity remain winless in 2025. The team haven't won a map since the addition of Nicholas "nicx" Lee and Danny "cxzi" Strzelczyk.
Facing The MongolZ was always going to be a tough matchup for Complexity as they're one of the best teams in the world. Complexity's odds diminished drastically after they lost on Dust2, their map pick. The MongolZ put up a solid CT-side in the first half and shut down most of Complexity's gameplan.
Surprisingly, Complexity started strong on Ancient and led by 6-2 in the first half after winning six rounds in a row. However, The MongolZ found out how to adapt to Complexity's CT-side, and the scoreboard was tied after the first half.
The MongolZ secured the second pistol and the anti-eco, and things definitely fell apart for Complexity after the Mongolians won a 3v4 in the first gun round with just SMGs holding the B bombsite. Complexity never recovered from that despite Johnny' "JT" Theodosiou's best efforts and saw The MongolZ ran away with the series thanks to clutches and great mid-round calls.
While the loss does nothing to improve Complexity's confidence, PGL Cluj-Napoca is far from over. The North Americans will return to the server tomorrow, February 15th to play their 0-1 match.
