Top NA teams tumble in all-important February VRS update
Valve have released the second Valve Regional Standings (VRS) update of 2025 today, with this update being of extreme importance as it will be used to determine invites to high upcoming tier-two events. Additionally, the update serves as a litmus test for how NA's teams are performing as the BLAST.tv Austin Major draws ever closer.
Per Valve's "Tournament Operating Requirements" rulebook, this update will be used to determine invites for BLAST Open Lisbon, PGL Bucharest, YaLLa Compass Qatar, IEM Melbourne, and IEM Dallas.
Overall, North America fared poorly in this update when we compare the standings to the January 6th VRS update. Top NA teams like Liquid, Complexity, M80, and NRG all fell in the rankings while Wildcard and BOSS gained ground after strong starts to the year.
On the Homefront, a number of new teams have appeared on the ranking including Getting Info and Marsborne, while teams like Chill Guys, Vagrants, and Bad News Capybaras made massive leaps after starting their campaigns in ESL Challenger League Season 49.
