EliGE wants to improve FaZe's comms: "Sometimes it is going crazy"
Anyone that watched one of Finn "karrigan" Andersen's YouTube videos with snippets of FaZe voice comms know how chaotic their comms can get at times. This is one aspect of their game that Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski wants to refine throughout the year now that he's a part of the team and played his first match at BLAST Bounty Season 1.
EliGE compared FaZe's comms with the way Liquid communicated during 2018 and 2019 during an interview with the BLAST Bounty analyst desk after the victory against M80. He also mentioned the difference between Liquid and FaZe's style with Complexity, his last team.
"There's a lot more stuff that's on the fly, we're trying to say everything really quickly," EliGE said. "Whereas on COL, yeah, it was just a couple of guys — me, JT, and hallzerk — that were saying a lot of stuff. But we also had a lot of codewords that simplified a lot of comms whereas here we do a lot of things on the fly."
"Eventually I want to help shorten down the amount of words so there is a little less chaos, because sometimes it is going crazy in the comms. If you get pushed anytime during those crazy comms then it can backfire a little bit, but overall I think we have a lot of stuff to look forward to."
This doesn't mean that EliGE is less excited about playing for FaZe as he told the analyst desk that he "really wanted" to play with karrigan and it was the Danish IGL himself that invited him.
Besides that, EliGE also explained some of FaZe's dynamics and roles since his arrival during the off-season. As predicted, FaZe is making use of EliGE's versatility.
"We're pretty much making it so anyone can do a lot of things," EliGE said. "We're being pretty dynamic, like as you saw on Ancient I 'technically' play A but I can also do a lot of things. The A rifler helps take Mid control a lot too. We have a lot of setups where we can be dynamic and we're not just wanting to have rain play Upper Tunnels every single round on Dust2."
"We want people to get into the action, to activate our aggressive players because we have so many options for what we can do in these rounds, a lot of guys who want to do stuff in the round and not be passive. It's a good compromise that we have to find on all the maps."
EliGE and FaZe held their $30,000 bounty to the next round of BLAST Bounty. The draw for the next round will be conducted tonight after G2 vs. B8 is concluded.
