Virtus.pro eliminate Complexity from BLAST Bounty Season 1
Complexity are out of BLAST Bounty Season 1 following a 2-0 defeat to Virtus.pro in the Round of 32 on January 16th. The result sees Virtus.pro claim Complexity's $15,000 bounty and move forward in the competition.
This was an exciting matchup as it meant the debut of Danny "cxzi" Strzelczyk and Nicholas "nicx" Lee under the Complexity banner, while Virtus.pro fielded Timur "FL4MUS" Maryev and Kaisar "ICY" Faiznurov for the first time too.
Virtus.pro, however, were more consistent than Complexity throughout the best-of-three series. VP narrowly won on Dust 2, which was Complexity's map pick, off the back of impressive performances from FL4MUS and ICY. cxzi and nicx, on the other hand, were nowhere near as inspired.
The series moved on to Train and although Complexity had a decent T-side in the first half, Petr "fame" Bolyshev had an astonishing performance on the CT-side and dropped 20 kills, single-handedly winning some rounds for Virtus.pro.
Complexity had a good advantage at some point as they were winning by 10-8 after a flying start, but FL4MUS started to get entries left and right, dismantling Complexity's defense. In the end, Complexity didn't have a strong economy to afford enough utility, and Virtus.pro ran away with another narrow victory.
All that Complexity have left after today's elimination is to get back to the drawing board and practice for the IEM Katowice Play-in, which starts on January 29th.
