Nouns CS2 budget vote appears likely to fail
With less than 24 hours left before the voting ends, Proposal 715, which would fund the male and female Nouns Esports rosters, does not appear likely to pass the Nouns DAO.
As of 4:00 pm ET on January 8th, 89 votes "against" the proposal have been tallied versus only five in favor of it. Many of the against votes accompanied with a comment are indicating a desire to support Nouns Esports, but not the proposed 2025 budget of 685,000 USD.
Several who have voted against the proposal say they have concerns about the ROI (return on investment) of Nouns Counter-Strike. Others are hesitant to pour more of the treasury into esports after approving an even more expensive Smash Bros. tournament circuit this past November.
Long-time Dota 2 pro and Nouns COO Peter "ppd" Dager appears to have voted against the CS2 budget, saying that it wasn't flexible, that the players don't "fully understand" the DAO, and claiming that there is no "path to sustainability" in the women's scene.
36 of the against votes came from the Nouncil, who are meeting tomorrow at 10:00 am ET two hours before voting ends. NA commentator Floofys has posted that fans can contact him to join the Nouncil Discord if they want to try and persuade them to stick with CS2.
