Liquid eliminated from BLAST Premier World Final 2024
After not being able to capitalize on a 1-0 map lead against G2 yesterday, Liquid did the same today against Vitality, only this time it means the North American squad is out of the event. Some improvements were made but were not enough to overcome the #3 HLTV-ranked squad.
The series started with Liquid's pick of Anubis, which saw the home team open the map with a 5-2 lead on the CT-side. Vitality managed to bring the deficit to zero, as the teams reached the half tied at six each. The map continued being very competitive with both teams going back and forth, but a streak of five round wins in a row for Liquid gave them some cushion to grab the 13-10 Anubis win.
Dust2 was next on the cards and Liquid paid their respects to the dust2.us team by not showing up as a form of protest. It was not quite a 13-0 but Vitality only allowed three round wins from the Liquid side, with all coming on the CT-side. A 9-3 lead at the half became a 13-3 victory to tie the series.
Liquid managed to grab a very early, and slim, lead on Nuke, 2-0 at one point and then 3-2. Vitality, once again, would show a lot more prowess, winning six in a row, to win their CT-side half 8-4. The second half showed new life for Liquid, slowly chipping away at Vitality's lead to eventually find themselves down 12-11. After a very tense round, Vitality managed to close out the map 13-11 and eliminate Liquid.
