Perseverance announce $43,500 series of tournaments
Canadian esports organization and fledgling tournament operator Perseverance have returned to activity with the announcement of the Perseverance League, a $43,500 series of tournaments they plan on running in partnership with Take Flyte. The announcement of the league comes after the Canadian organization indefinitely postponed their $100,000 Perseverance Cup LAN back in August under tragic circumstances, with this event being a new attempt to break into the NA scene.
The event is set to feature three divisions: Persevere, Champion, and Coliseum, with the divisions having $25,000, $12,500, and $6,000 prizepools, respectively. Each division will have the same format, with the group stage being Bo3 Swiss while the playoffs will be a single elimination Bo3 bracket. The Persevere division is set to feature 16 teams while the Champion and Coliseums divisions are set to have 24 teams.
The schedule for the event is likely to raise some eyebrows, as Dust2.us understands all three divisions are set to start on November 16th and run until January 31st. The Perseverance Cup is set to start right as the Perfect World Shanghai Major Americas RMR concludes, meaning any teams that make the Major will be unable to compete and teams that do not may still miss the first week due to travel back from China.
Additionally, the event is scheduled to run through the Winter Player Break, meaning teams will need to also give up some time off to meet league commitments.
More details about the event will likely come in the following days and weeks, with teams interested in signing up being able to do so here, with the event costing $50 per team for signups.
