M80 eliminated in Europe
M80 are heading home for now after suffering a tough 1-2 loss to BESTIA in the final group match at the Thunderpick World Championship.
Inferno was a knock-down, drag-out match that went into two different overtimes before M80 finally claimed victory. The two sides were inseparable in the first and second half, making the two overtimes necessary. M80 consistently battled back from sometimes unwinnable positions to take home the first map of the series.
Ancient was a much different story for the Americans, as they were outclassed from the start. It was hard for M80 to get into the game, as a strong Argentinian defense constantly pushed them back. They fell behind 3-9 at the half on their own map pick. Things didn't improve in the second half either, as BESTIA came away with a 13-5 map win to even up the score.
At the end of the day, Anubis was a tough test for M80, but it simply might not have been the matchup that the Americans were best prepared for. The Argentinians had a strong 7-1 lead to open up the decider and really never let go of that lead despite M80's valiant efforts to keep the series close overall. BESTIA would end up coming away with a solid 13-7 win to secure the map and advance to the next stage.
M80 has been eliminated from the competition and will now look to the 2024 Perfect World Shanghai Major Americas RMR for their next battles.
