Former Perseverance quintet's bans expire
Effective today, the former Perseverance lineup's two-month ban from all ESL FACEIT Group events has expired, allowing John "mds" Marin, Gabriel "Gabe" Shah, Collin "CoJoMo" Moren, Cory "shutout" Frymark, and Mark "CooperTrooper" Cooper to compete in events held by the tournament organizer once again.
The quintet were banned from all EFG events on July 30th after being implicated in an alleged attempt to deceive an ESL Challenger League admin to reschedule a match with falsified weather reports and power issues.
As reported by Dust2.us, the team's attempt at deception was incredibly flawed. A number of glaring errors allowed ESL to quickly determine that the evidence provided by the team was fabricated.
Glaring issues included the team using Gabe's phone number for the message from the "power company," which contained multiple spelling and grammar issues, and the fact that the weather at the shutout's location was "picturesque" during supposed "storms and rain floods."
Overall, the team's amateur attempt at deceiving ESL, followed by their ban from EFG events, disqualification from ESL Challenger League Season 48, and drop by their organization, led to the team being the source of much derision and lampooning from the community.
With the team's bans now expiring, the squad will look to put the incident behind them and return to the scene, hopefully having learned from the "experience".
