malbsMd honors deceased teammate after BLAST victory
Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa made history over the weekend as the first player from Guatemala to win BLAST Premier: Fall Finals or an event of that stature. In his post-game celebration tweet, the young North American player also made a specific mention to his former fallen teammate, Santiago "Daveeys" Galvis.
It was just over a year ago that former Columbian Counter-Strike player and rising VALORANT star passed away. The 23-year-old slowly became a household name in the LATAM region after helping his team, alongside Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa, qualify for ESL Pro League while on FULLSEND and later on Infinity. Following his time in Counter-Strike, he gained even more attention after switching to the Riot shooter in 2020. He joined up with Sergio Arguero's KRÜ and played in the VALORANT Champions tournament in 2022.
malbsMd and Daveeys played together while on FULLSEND and later with the Costa Rican organization Infinity. The team participated in several seasons of ESEA's MDL league and several South American LAN events before the COVID-19 pandemic.
The two would also play with other household names like Andrés "spammzy" Correa and Juan "points" Camilo Londoño. Daveeys became one of the first Colombian players to qualify for ESEA MDL, doing so through relegation in Season 29.
malbsMd has already become one of the brightest stars from the LATAM region and continues to impress at the top level of global Counter-Strike.
