Colombian esports trailblazer Daveeys passes away at 23

The former CS player was widely known for his time on KRÜ in VALORANT.

Santiago "Daveeys" Galvis has passed away at the age of 23, Argentine esports organization KRÜ confirmed today. A cause of death is not known publicly at this time.

While Daveeys reached the apex of his esports career in VALORANT, he is fondly remembered by fans and teammates alike for his contributions to Colombian and Latin American CS:GO. While playing with the likes of long-time teammates Andrés "spammzy" Correa and Juan "points" Camilo Londoño, Daveeys became one of the first Colombian players to qualify to ESEA MDL, doing so through relegation in Season 29.

Likewise, while playing with a young Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa, Daveeys and co. would make history again as one of the first LATAM teams to play ESL Pro League, qualifying to ESL Pro League Season 9 via the LA League.

After Pro League, Daveeys spent the remainder of his CS:GO career with Costa Rican organization Infinity, playing two more seasons of MDL and a number of South American LAN events before making the move to VALORANT in 2020. In some solace, Daveeys final years in esports saw him reach his apex as a player, only recently attending the VALORANT Champions 2023 with KRÜ, breaking barriers once again as the first Colombian to play in the world championships.

In the wake of his passing, numerous players who knew him throughout his career have given tribute to Daveeys:

Dust2.us offers its condolences to Daveeys' family and friends.
