Domination nation in Atlanta's opening round
ESL Challenger Atlanta has been nothing more than a simple beatdown this morning. One-sided affairs have pretty much dominated the schedule since competition kicked off at 10:30 AM local time.
FlyQuest, SAW, BIG, and M80 all come away with comfortable wins as they head into the winner's bracket with the second round of matchups beginning this afternoon.
This morning started off with the Australians from FlyQuest utterly demolished BetBoom in their best-of-one-on Dust2. FlyQuest crushed the Russian's offense, keeping them at bay throughout the opening half. BetBoom could only collect two rounds and hoped for some progress on their CT-side. FlyQuest wouldn't let that happen as they easily cleaned things up to take a 13-3 victory.
While FlyQuest might have dominated, their Australian friends Rooster struggled to replicate that same form. SAW was a Portuguese powerhouse who cooked Rooster like a Thanksgiving Turkey on Nuke. While the first half did appear to be somewhat competitive, as the Australians claimed four T-side rounds, it was the second half where SAW showed they were built differently, as they won five T-side rounds in a row to secure a 13-4 victory.
It was a BIG game next, as the German organization took care of the Brazilians from down south. ODDIK struggled to keep up in the international matchup, as they were only able to get a single round on their T-side of Ancient. BIG simply didn't let the Brazilians get going at all during the match, and they made quick work in the second half, coming away with a 13-2 win.
The final match of the first round was the most competitive game of all as North America's M80 and Wildcard duked it out on Ancient. While M80 opened up with a solid lead in the beginning, Wildcard proved they were no slouches as they kept things competitive, but it ultimately, at the end day, wasn't enough as M80 powered through to ensure that they would come out the victors with a 13-8 victory.
