Don't get too comfortable

What to expect from the Complexity vs. Astralis rematch

No more room for error.

After a close series against BIG that ended in embarrassment on Dust2, Complexity finds themselves facing a familiar foe in the lower bracket of Group C at ESL Pro League Season 20. Complexity will face off versus Astralis, who finally tuned up with a decisive win against the Oceanic team Rooster, in a rematch just to stay alive at Pro League.

Complexity does not like Dust2 (the map, not us)

The performances of both Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski and Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli tie directly to how good Complexity's results are. In series where the team is playing well, and the two of them are getting kills like they did versus MOUZ and Astralis, Complexity win. But when the team begins to make mistakes and get frustrated like they did versus M80 and BIG, the two stars start to slump and Complexity lose. It's been a pretty good event overall for Michael "Grim" Wince, but when EliGE and hallzerk aren't involved, Complexity get in trouble.

  • Complexity have already beaten Astralis

  • Grim has been consistently solid all tournament

  • EliGE rarely has back-to-back poor performances

Astralis are alive, barely

A monstrous performance from Jakob "jabbi" Nygaard highlighted the Astralis victory over Rooster, as the Danish roster punished the Oceanic team that look like they overperformed in their near upset of MOUZ. Still, Astralis has a lot more to improve on. But while they did lose 0-2 to Complexity earlier in the bracket, Complexity needed overtime in both maps in order to put Astralis away.

  • Heroic jabbi finally showed up

  • dev1ce is still a force to be reckoned with

  • Is rematch buff a thing?

Previous matchups

As mentioned above, Complexity defeated Astralis this past Wednesday with both maps going to OT: 19-17 on Vertigo, and 16-14 on Inferno.

Likely Vetoes

  • Complexity ban Mirage (Permaban)

  • Astralis ban Anubis (Permaban)

  • Complexity pick Vertigo (Has been their go-to map this event)

  • Astralis pick Inferno (Decisive wins v. Fnatic and Rooster, despite OT loss to Complexity earlier)

  • Complexity ban Dust2 (Just had a bad time)

  • Astralis ban Nuke (Low pick/win rate)

  • Decider is Ancient

Complexity has shown the ability to comfortably close out Vertigo, their map pick, only once versus MOUZ. But as long as they can claim Vertigo versus Astralis, the rest of the map pool should favor them.
