Complexity stall out on Dust2 against BIG, fall to daunting lower bracket
After two successive 2-0 series wins, Complexity finally went to map three in their series versus BIG, but it was a map to forget as the NA side was battered on Dust2.
The series started on BIG's pick of Ancient, a sore spot for Complexity's map pool after getting shut out on their T-side versus M80. BIG's T-side was solid, taking eight rounds before switching sides, but Complexity showed signs of life in the second half. The NA team fought back into the map thanks to some sensational rounds from Michael "Grim" Wallace, but the half fizzled out at the end as BIG locked them out of the bomb sites in three straight rounds to take Ancient 13-10.
Complexity found some success on the T-side of Vertigo, mostly via hitting the A site, ending up with six rounds before switching to their very strong CT-side. A super successful force buy from Complexity after losing pistol put them in the driver's seat on Vertigo. A late surge from BIG forced Complexity to hold their nerve in the 24th round, but superior AWP play from Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli and Ricky "floppy" Kemery pushed Complexity over the line, 13-11.
Complexity faced a map three for the first time all event as the series turned to Dust2, but economy mismanagement, missed smokes, and a strong CT-side from BIG put them behind early. BIG jumped out to an 10-0 lead before Complexity finally earned a T round thanks to post-plant 3k from Grim, but that would be Complexity's only round on the T-side. BIG taking pistol round all but assured a victory for the German team, capping the series win with a 13-1 thrashing on Dust2.
BIG will secure a spot in playoffs, while Complexity falls to the lower bracket, where they must beat Astralis and the winner of Fnatic v. MOUZ to reach playoffs.
