Liquid secure EPL Season 20 playoffs after beating down Virtus.pro
Liquid and Virtus.pro faced each other after beating their opponents in the opening game of Group D 2-0. Liquid started the series as the favorites given the team's recent form, and the players didn't disappoint, confirming the favoritism with another 2-0 win.
With this result, Liquid have secured a playoff spot in ESL Pro League Season 20 but they can guarantee a quarterfinals berth if they win against the winner of the Vitality v. FURIA series.
The series started on Ancient, with Liquid putting Virtus.pro in their place with an 8-4 T-side round even after losing the pistol round. The second half saw Liquid lose another pistol round but come out on top almost immediately. The closest VP got was a 6-8 deficit, as Liquid got the 13-7 win.
Dust2, picked by Virtus.pro, was dominated by Liquid, despite, once again, Liquid dropping the CT-side pistol round to start the map. At the half, the American squad would be leading comfortably, with a 9-3 advantage. To start the second half of Dust2, Liquid finally won a pistol round and two more before VP got three in a row. Liquid didn't let the Russians get more, as they took the 13-6 win.
