Mythic, Akimbo bite the dust
Akimbo and Mythic are officially out of contention for the 2024 Perfect World Shanghai Major Americas RMR as the two teams have been eliminated on the second day of competition.
Akimbo continued to use stand-in Marco "Pol0" Hernandez today as the Mongolian side looked to stay alive against Elevate. The American lineup has stumbled in domestic competition as of recently, but appeared to be in solid form today as they held Akimbo at bay. Elevate turned out a solid performance to steal Dust2 away 13-9 before wrapping things up with a 13-11 come-from-behind victory on Nuke.
As for Mythic, the team had a weird best-of-three. Anubis was a tight map for both sides, but things started to get wary on Mirage when Erik "fl0m" Flom was lead to believe that E-Xolos LAZER had abused a pixel bug and were potentially in contention for disqualification. At the same time Austin "Austin" Meadows was also dealing with a massive storm that knocked out his power. The team rallied back from their loss on Anubis to tie it up on Mirage, but ultimately fell dramatically on Inferno.
As for E-Xolos LAZER and Elevate, they will continue tomorrow as both teams hope to make it to Shanghai.
