The tournament was held in David's memory

cynic's father thanks NA CS community for fundraising event

A touching message for those who helped organize the charity tournament.

David "cynic" Polster's passing earlier this year shocked the entire North American Counter-Strike community. Fans and fellow competitors remembered him for his spirit, eye for the game, and bright future.

Two weeks ago, North American organization Nouns ran David's Cup, a memorial event with the goal of raising money for the National Alliance on Mental Illness, a charity dedicated to "provid[ing] advocacy, education, support and public awareness" for those affected by mental illness.

Nouns were able to offer some raffle prizes with signed jerseys from Complexity and M80, as well as other apparel from Mythic, NRG, BOXR, and Nouns, which were up for grabs. Eric "adreN" Hoag also gave away one of his jerseys with his signature in a raffle.

Overall, the organization raised $12,770 for the National Alliance on Mental Illness in memory of cynic.

Following the event, Daryl Polster, cynic's father, contacted Dust2.us to express his thanks to everyone who participated.

I’d like to thank Nouns for organizing the event in our son’s honor. Also, thanks to the players, casters, and others behind the scenes who generously contributed their time to make it happen, and of course, thanks to all who made a monetary donation.

David’s time here was far too short, but his passion for CS lives on in all of you.

Dust2.us would like to express our well wishes to the Polster family and to thank the community for supporting such a good cause.
