otEB fires back at Link over STMN accusations
Jesus "otEB" Gastelum, one of three former STMN players who were cut following an incident leading up to their Fire League match with Estral, has released a TwitLonger of his own in an attempt to shine light on alleged inaccuracies in the version of the story told by Eduardo "Link" Ozuna.
The first distinct difference in otEB's side of the story is that he claims that himself, Adrian "Gonnak" Arguello, and Emmanuel "emeerkk" Espinoza were entered into agreements with the organization before STMN was even brought into the project.
Those agreements allegedly dated back to September 2nd of this year and were later not honored because the team had recently switched managers, with Tadeo "c0nsequeence" Miranda now occupying that position. otEB noted that the team were promised jerseys and peripherals to be on par with their competition, but received nothing from STMN until the day of their aforementioned match with Estral.
The post then shifted to a series of screenshots from the lead up to STMN's match to secure a spot in Latin Power, the qualifier for BLAST Premier Fall Showdown. A response to Link's assertion that the Mexican trio had been unprofessional, the screenshots showed Link's lack of availability to practice leading up to what had the potential to be a monumental match for the roster.
Everett "Poison" Ivy came to his teammate's defense in the replies on Twitter, noting that the screenshots were from early on in the team's time together, when their practice schedule was ill-defined. He continued to defend Link, noting that the "time conflict" was that he was simply scheduled to work his real job at those times, which he contended was substantially less unprofessional than a simple lack of motivation to practice.
Finally, otEB alleges that the complications prior to STMN's final match against Estral were the result of the event's requirement to have three Mexican players. He claimed that Link had not proven his Mexican heritage to a sufficient degree and since the team were planning to use Bradley "Slugy" Kohler in place of emeerkk for the match, they would have been left with just two Mexican players.
After winning that match, otEB claims that Link and c0nsequeence were much more friendly and thought that the drama had blown over. The resulting roster change completely blindsided the original Mexican trio as a result.
otEB closed by claiming that he had the screenshots to back his side of the story and that the trio "never refused to play a single game, much less the most important one." He doubled down on the fact that Link's account of the events was incorrect and that the longer-tenured players were the victims of standing up for their friend emeerkk, not the blackmailing villains that they were made out to be.
