daps set to move on from Gen.G
Damian "daps" Steele has announced that he will be moving on from Gen.G for a variety of reasons, including the cancellation of this year's Major, burnout, and the unfortunate reality of the challenges presented by being unable to lead the team in person as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
With daps' capable hands at the helm, Gen.G found their way to victory at DreamHack Open Anaheim, culminating with a 2-0 win over FURIA in the grand final. There is no doubting that daps is capable of leading a tier one side, which he noted continues to be his preference for the right team in CS:GO.
However, within his statement he also made it clear that he isn't married to that idea, stating a willingness to not only "[move] on as a player" and presumably fill other roles for a top tier CS:GO team, but also to explore whether "leaving CS is the route [he has] to take" with the release of VALORANT offering an alternative path for a professional of his pedigree.

Gen.G are still playing with daps in ESL Pro League for the immediate future, starting with their matchup with Evil Geniuses tomorrow at 3PM EDT. They are currently 1-1 in group play.
