Cloud9 commence rebuild with ALEX
Cloud9 have revealed Alex "ALEX" McMeekin as the first player in their rebuild effort. The 24-year-old Brit formally parted was with Vitality yesterday, after stepping down from their active roster in March.
During his time with the French side, he led them to victories at cs_summit 4, ECS Season 7 Finals, and EPICENTER 2019, along with a 5-8th finish at the StarLadder Berlin Major 2019.
The announcement comes just days after the organization added scene veterans Henry "HenryG" Greer and Aleksandar "kassad" Trifunović as General Manager and Coach, respectively.
Also announced yesterday was the fact that current Assistant Coach Joshua "m1cks" Micks would be staying on as an analyst for the new team.
With the additions, Cloud9 are now:
- Alex "ALEX" McMeekin
- Aleksandar "kassad" Trifunović (Coach)
- Joshua "m1cks" Micks (Analyst)
- Henry "HenryG" Greer (General Manager)
In an early signal that things will not be business as usual, HenryG yesterday indicated that the new effort would shirk the time-honored practice in esports of not revealing information on player contracts, adding in a press release today:
As controversial and unorthodox a move it may appear, I'm excited to be able to reveal far more specific details to his contract than you've ever heard in any past blockbuster deal
ALEX still finds himself well short of the requisite five players needed for a CS:GO team, so further announcements are expected in the near future.
