Cloud9 announce CS:GO "rebuilding phase"
Cloud9 have announced the beginning of a CS:GO "Team Development program", that in all likelihood will see the organization part ways with their current roster.
The organization stressed that their "front office is working to find our current roster homes with new teams that are good fits and will help them further their careers, and they will continue to play under the C9 banner until these moves are completed."
CEO Jack Etienne issued the following statement regarding the news:
We're entering a new stage in our CS:GO development, and we're really excited to show our fans and community what we've been working on.We're grateful to our existing roster and all their hard work and determination - as we enter this next chapter, we're dedicated to finding them a new home that will empower their continued growth.
The American-South African lineup has been with Cloud9 since January 6th, when they were acquired from ATK as Cloud9 looked to reinvent themselves following the collapse of their prior lineup.
During their eight-month-tenure with the organization, the Johnny Theodosiou-led project were a consistent top thirty team on HLTV’s world rankings, peaking at 16th following a strong showing at ESL One: Road to Rio. However, the lineup struggled against domestic rivals Evil Geniuses and Liquid, recently being eliminated from ESL One Cologne Online following two losses to the latter.
For now, Cloud9 are:
- Johnny "JT" Theodosiou
- Ian "motm" Hardy
- Josh "oSee" Ohm
- Ricky "floppy" Kemery
- Aran "Sonic" Groesbeek
- Tiaan "T.c" Coertzen (Coach)
- Joshua "m1cks" Micks (Assistant Coach)
- James "JamezIRL" Macaulay (Consultant)
The roster are set to continue their ESL Pro League Season 12 campaign with a match against Triumph on September 11th.
Further updates from Cloud9 regarding what this rebuild entails are expected in the coming days and weeks, along with exclusive interviews from current and future team members on right here on Dust2.us.
