Day one of Americas RMR NA Closed Qualifier full of surprises

Liquid and NRG dropped matches, and much more in just the opening day.

In an Americas RMR North American Closed Qualifier filled with tier-one teams, ECL teams, a couple of mix squads, and a Brazilian roster, chaos was expected to ensue, but not like this. M80, Complexity, Wildcard, and Party Astronauts are the 2-0 teams after the first day, while LOS, FLUFFY AIMERS, Cloud 10, and vagrants are on the opposite side of the table.

The night started with a couple of blow-outs and a few very balanced matches, but soon everything turned upside down with some of the big teams finding themselves on the wrong side of the standings.

Round one of games saw M80 demolish Rocket 13-1 and Complexity doing the same to FLUFFY AIMERS. Nouns were the first real test for the new Liquid lineup, which was able to overcome the DAO-backed team 13-10, while NRG needed overtime to win 16-14 against Badass, a taste of what was to come later. The newly-formed Carpe Diem showed LOS that NA CS has hands, giving them a 13-9 beating, while Party Astronauts struggled to beat my life be like in overtime 16-13. Closing the first round, Wildcard and BOSS beat their opponents, vagrants and Cloud 10, respectively, 13-11.

Everything was going according to what was expected, with the favorites winning, although some would have liked to have won with more comfort. But round two is where things started to go crazy. Shockingly, M80 completely shut down Liquid with a 13-3 win, while Wildcard beat BOSS in a somewhat personal match 13-8. PA vs. Carpe Diem was another exciting match going into overtime, where the Astronauts won 16-12, but Rocket vs. Cloud 10 brought the energy down again with a 13-4 beating in favor of the ECL squad. Complexity and NRG were the protagonists of one of the longest matches of the whole qualifier, with a 25-21 win favoring the Dallas boys, while my life be like carried their momentum from a near victory in round one to upset FA 13-6. Closing the day, Badass gave LOS a 0-2 record after defeating them 13-5, and Nouns got their first win against vagrants, 13-11.
