Walco is set to helm a new iteration of Carpe Diem

Carpe Diem reform with Walco, wiz, Unjustified core

Carpe Diem are back as Walco has left Evil Geniuses.

After being first reported by Dust2.us on December 20th, Colby "Walco" Walsh and Jerric "wiz" Jiang have announced their new home for 2024 with the core of Unjustified. However, due to contracts expiring, the squad have left the Canadian organization and revived the Carpe Diem tag, which Walco and wiz previously played under in mid-2022.

This new Carpe Diem will have a number of eyes on it as it has inherited Unjustified spot's in the PGL Major Copenhagen Americas RMR Closed Qualifier, with a view on making it to Monterrey and ultimately the first CS2 Major.

For those who need a refresher, Carpe Diem formed after RBG parted ways with their successful NA lineup in February 2022. This iteration of Carpe Diem would go on to put on a number of strong performances, most notably finishing ESL Challenger League Season 40 in second place after losing the finals to MIBR. After four months, the team would be signed by Evil Geniuses for their Blueprint project, becoming EG Black.

With Evil Geniuses folding, Walco has been released from the organization to reform Carpe Diem, reuniting with wiz and former RBG teammate Kyle "Wolffe" Greenfield. Rounding out the roster are Wolffe's Unjustified teammates Sebastian "Seb" Dietrich and Mason "Lake" Sanderson, with whom he recently posted a second-place finish at Fragicago 2023.

Wolffe told Dust2.us that the team made the decision to not renew with Unjustified once their contracts expired due to wanting to focus on making the PGL Major Copenhagen Americas RMR via the upcoming closed qualifier. After that, they are open to offers but wanted to wait to show off their new roster in officials before hearing proposals.

The reborn Carpe Diem consists of:

  • United States Sebastian "Seb" Dietrich

  • United States Mason "Lake" Sanderson

  • United States Kyle "Wolffe" Greenfield

  • Canada Colby "Walco" Walsh

  • United States Jerric "wiz" Jiang

Not the flashiest squad ever assembled, but I'm excited to see how they do.
