Players and coaches react to EG's reported plans to leave Counter-Strike
Yesterday, November 7th, news broke, through Richard Lewis, that Evil Geniuses will be dropping every esports roster except the ones connected to Riot Games, which means the two Counter-Strike squads playing under the EG banner will be left orgless after December, with the women's team being "likely cut before that". The news spread fast in the community, and even faster in the organization, with many players and coaches tweeting right after the news was published.
From the men's teams, Timothy "autimatic" Ta was the more vocal member, engaging in some light banter with Heroic and even posting about switching to VALORANT.
Jadan "HexT" Postma and Paytyn "junior" Johnson resorted to just posting funny pictures to show their feelings, while the team's IGL Colby "Walco" Walsh and Jeorge "jeorge" Endicott haven't publicly stated anything, yet. EG's coach Tommy "Axed" Ryan posted a picture, like HexT and junior, but with a lot more irony involved.
From the women's roster, Kiara "m1lky" Makua, the IGL, Tilde "7licious" Byström, and coach Joseph "Muenster" Lima tweeted the same exact thing, showing the "This is fine" webcomic dog.
Juliana "JULI" Tosic posted a more cryptic GIF of Donald Trump stating that "Everyone knows it", which can be interpreted in many ways. The team's AWPer Kiki "PiggyKiki" Long and highest-rated player Vanessa "vanessa" Gideon haven't tweeted anything related to the matter so far.
While the men's team can have a luckier break finding an organization due to their established value as individuals and the overall quality of the North American men's scene, the women's roster might not be so lucky, despite coming close to qualifying for the international stage twice. The women's scene is lacking a lot of organizational support as,, with only four organizations of various sizes being represented in the women's scene and one of them, Evil Geniuses, is leaving. Only the future weeks will tell how things shape up for the players and coaches who will, reportedly, be left with no organization.
