Daveys and Infinity were quick to defend their MDL spot with a quick best of three win against Serac

ETHEREAL make MDL; Infinity, Oceanus, New England Whalers defend spots

In The Lab will drop to Advanced next season; while Faint, Serac, and Rebel will remain there.

Two spots in MDL still remain on the table after the second day of Relegation, as Oceanus, Infinity, and New England Whalers all won their upper bracket matches to retain their MDL berths. The trio are joined by ETHEREAL, thus far the only Advanced side to break through to the upper league.

Malick "dangle" Abid dropped a 30 bomb on Overpass to keep the 25 kill performances of Brenden "stellar" McGrath and Robert "robby" Brown in check as ETHEREAL won the opening map of the series. Tony "w0w" Zachary also chipped in 21 for ETHEREAL in the win.

The same one-two punch of dangle and w0w earned ETHEREAL the 2-0 sweep and a spot in MDL for Season 34, with the duo each amassing 23 kills to contest the 26 from both stellar and Brady "thief" Dever on Dust2.

Serac came into this matchup upset-minded after their 2-1 victory of Thunder Logic on Tuesday and after they jumped out to a 1-0 series lead on Nuke, it looked like that was within the realm of possibility for the lowest ranked team in the event. Frank "Laxufy" Zeolla's server-leading 28 kills got things rolling for Serac, whose 10-2 CT-side to close the match was convincing.

But even more convincing was Infinity's response on Inferno and Overpass, where Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa and Jesus "sam_A" Tadoada each posted 42 kills to help reverse sweep Serac back down to the lower bracket.

In The Lab managed to take Mirage on the back of an 11-4 T-side, but it was a 9-1 CT-side on Nuke for Oceanus that set the tone for the rest of the series, as the Canadians won 20 of 25 rounds spanning from the second half of map two to halftime in map three. David "J0LZ" Jolin was the star of the show for Oceanus, achieving a 1.58 rating for the series.

Jimmy "Marved" Nguyen was the MVP of the series across both teams, but that didn't stop the Whalers from sweeping blood, sweat, and tears down to the lower bracket in convincing fashion.

Bolstering their ranks with Tyson "TenZ" Ngo (in place of Norman "contii" Yeung) wasn't enough to keep In The Lab from being the first team to drop from MDL to Advanced. Bryce "PureR" Lovell led Thunder Logic to a 2-0 series win in what will be the only lower bracket match to feature two MDL sides from Season 33.

PureR had 51 kills and a 1.40 rating as the series MVP, while TenZ put up a server-leading 52 frags to go with a 1.35 rating. Sean "Inseaniac" Morrison played a key supporting role for Thunder Logic with 23 kills on Mirage and 24 on Train to supplement PureR's performance.

Serac got off to a quick 1-0 series lead on the backs of impressive performances from Laxufy and Nicholas "stealthy" Petrakos, who were both above a 1.50 rating in the opening map win.

But it was Daniel "bokumbop" Yoo on Mirage and Brett "hyper-" Rhein on Vertigo who took control in the reverse sweep for Trivium, posting 1.55 and 1.69 ratings, respectively, and topping the server in kills to send Serac back to Advanced.

Derek "dare" Brown led the field with 28 kills on Mirage, but it was all for nought as Jake "eptima" Allen's forgettable 6-23 scoreline dragged Rebel down. stellar and Chris "riku" Piasecki had 25 and 23, respectively, for AA in the win on Mirage.

History repeated itself on Dust2, with the same 8-7 first half deficit being converted into a 16-12 victory by AA. riku led the way once again with 27 kills, this time with thief chiming in with 26 of his own. eptima redeemed himself by leading the way for Rebel with 21 frags, but it wasn't enough to prevent his side from being swept back down to Advanced.
