ESL Impact Season 4 NA Week 5 - Highlights and Recap

A lot of uncertainty going into the last week of games.

As the end of the group stage is fast approaching, the picture was supposed to become clearer, but this fifth week of ESL Impact S4 NA just scrambled everything and everyone. Incredible series, and a couple of unexpected events have thrown a wrench in the works for the season's final two games.

In this article, you can find a recap of the four series of the week, the top three highlights, and performers of the games.

The week started with an underwhelming turn of events and expected results. Tsunami Sirens beat Cherry Bombs 2-0 but not without a proper scare in Ancient, which Cherry Bombs could have won. Inferno ended 13-5 and Ancient 16-13, both in favor of Tsunami Sirens. The other series was between FlyQuest RED and EG Gold, and it promised a lot, but, in the end, it didn't deliver. EG Gold managed to get a 1-0 lead by winning their pick of Ancient 13-11, but it was all downhill from there, as FlyQuest RED recovered and got a 13-5 Mirage win and a 13-2 Overpass win to win the series 2-1.

The second day featured two 2-0 series, but both were very different. Totsugeki beat Hyperion 13-1 in Vertigo and 13-7 in Mirage in a series without much to be said. On the other hand, Shimmer and Karma produced one of the best series in Impact history despite the 2-0 score. This was a series full of clutch plays and incredible shots. Karma would take the 13-6 Inferno win and the 13-11 Vertigo win.

With these results, FlyQuest RED is now guaranteed to be present in Valencia, even if the team loses the remaining games 0-2, making it the first roster from the regional leagues to clinch a spot in the LAN Final. With the current standings, there could be a three-way tie going into the final days of games between Shimmer, EG Gold, and either Tsunami Sirens or Karma.

Top 3 Performances

#1 United States Cass "tokkis" Dellinger - Totsugeki

tokkis was the difference maker in the Totsugeki vs. Hyperion series, mainly during Vertigo. She ended the series with a 2.28 rating and 146.3 ADR, but during the aforementioned map, she netted 23 kills in just 14 rounds, with only seven deaths.

#2 United States Marissa "madss" Dasta - FlyQuest RED

madss also had a stellar performance, but only during the final map of the series against EG Gold. madss ended the Overpass decider with 21 kills, six deaths, and a 2.49 rating coupled with 140.9 ADR.

#3 United States Lydia "Fawx" Dalton - Tsunami Sirens

Following the same path is Fawx, who had an amazing Inferno against Cherry Bombs. Fawx ended the map with 20 kills and just five deaths, in 18 rounds. She finished the map with a 2.06 rating and 111.0 ADR.

Top 3 Highlights

#1 United States April "Bungee" Haight (Karma) - 1v4 clutch 4K, all headshots

bungee was the star of the show this week for Karma. She put up incredible numbers and has been showing a lot of improvement. She is also the protagonist of probably the best play in ESL Impact Season 4, hands down. With a Deagle and a dream, bungee won a 1v4 clutch, a round that would prove to be crucial by the end of the map.

#2 United States Lydia "Fawx" Dalton (Tsunami Sirens) - 1v3 clutch

Guess who's back. This time taking "only" the second place, Fawx scored another clutch highlight, this time in a 1v3 situation that ended with two crisp headshots.

#3 Canada Amanda "rain" Smith (Team) - 1v2 clutch to win the series

rain has not been featured in a weekly recap since Week 2, but she has been killing it. This week she shows why she was one of the best in the world back in her Dignitas days, with a very patient 1v2 clutch.

Shot of the week - United States April "Bungee" Haight (Karma) - 1v4 clutch 4K, all headshots

You have already seen this play above, but you should watch it again and again and again. It's just BEAUTIFUL.
