ESL Impact Season 4 NA Week 4 - Highlights and Recap

With the transition to CS2 came the upsets.

The fourth week of ESL Impact will be remembered as the first official Counter-Strike 2 matches in the Impact league, and due to the different nature of CS2 compared to CS:GO and the matchups scheduled, this was a highly anticipated week by the fans. Nothing could have prepared anyone for the games that happened.

In this article, you can find a recap of the four series of the week, the top three highlights, and performers of the games.

The week started off with two big upsets. First Cherry Bombs beat Hyperion in two very close maps, 13-10 in Inferno, and 16-14 in Ancient. Both maps were entertaining until the very end. Then, Tsunami Sirens beat EG Gold 2-1, with the Sirens winning Ancient 16-13, losing Inferno 13-11, and winning Overpass 13-11. The scores show it and if you watched you would know it, another very close game.

The second day didn't have upsets, but there were some close maps as well. FlyQuest RED beat Karma 13-6 in Overpass, and 13-8 in Mirage, while Shimmer struggled to beat Totsugeki, winning Inferno 13-8, losing Mirage 16-14, and then closing the series 13-11 in Overpass.

The arrival of CS2 has somewhat leveled the playing field. With Hyperion and Evil Geniuses Gold not able to show their full strength, winning the first series for Hyperion and keeping glued to the leaders for EG Gold, respectively. On the other hand, this was a great achievement for Tsunami Sirens, who are now tied for fourth place, which grants an invitation for next season.

Top 3 Performances

#1 United States Lucy "empathy" Verkaik - Shimmer

Nothing has changed for empathy except the name of the game she plays. Another incredible week, showing a lot of consistency coupled with a lot of skill. She was there when Shimmer needed her the most, posting a 1.64 rating and 104.8 ADR, and an Ace during Overpass.

#2 Australia Vivienne "BiBiAhn" Quach - FlyQuest RED

BiBiAhn is another case of barely feeling the change in the game. The Australian rifler kept showing why she is one of the best players in the NA scene at the moment, securing another game with over 100 ADR and a 1.52 rating, also getting an Ace during Overpass.

#3 United States Lydia "Fawx" Dalton - Tsunami Sirens

Fawx was instrumental in Tsunami Sirens' win over EG Gold. Not only stats-wise but also in the clutch department. The AWPer won several 1vX situations, which were a big part of her team's win over one of the favorites to qualify. Fawx ended the series with 83.8 ADR and a 1.30 rating.

Top 3 Highlights

#1 United States Lydia "Fawx" Dalton (Tsunami Sirens) - 4K cltuch, 3v3 situation

This is just one of many Fawx clutches from this week. This one takes the top place due to the play itself and the context as, if Sirens lost this round they would be in financial trouble and very close to losing. Fawx's clutch was a crucial factor in her team's win.

#2 United States Lydia "Fawx" Dalton (Tsunami Sirens) - 2v2 double kill clutch

Another one. This one is during the first map, Ancient. Tsunami Sirens kicked off the overtime with a great clutch from Fawx who kept her cool and got a 2K.

#3 United States Lucy "empathy" Verkaik (Shimmer) - 1v3 clutch

empathy closes the podium with a 4K 1v3 clutch defuse at the start of the series. Just empathy things, not much to say, just watch.

Shot of the week - United States Casey "chigen" Glerb (Tsunami Sirens) - One tap Deagle

There were some good shots this week, but to me, this is the most satisfying one. We have all been there, playing Banana in Inferno, on an eco round, praying to get a beautiful one tap. In this case, chigen got the one deag onto the opponent's AWPer head.
