M80 stun Anonymo
With Complexity qualifying for IEM Sydney Playoffs it was M80's turn to give NA fans more happiness as they took on Anonymo in their CCT East Europe Series 3. It was a tight matchup for the two sides, but M80 prevailed with a clean 2-0 victory off the backs of a stunning first map performance from Guatemalan rifler Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa.
Speaking of that first map, Anonymo pick of Nuke started out with disaster as the Americans quickly jumped out to a 5-0 lead before closing out the first half with a dominant 9-3 CT-sided scoreline. It would only take four rounds for M80 to close it out, but somehow they were unable to do that as the Poles came roaring back to force an overtime. Despite taking an early overtime lead, M80 were able to finish strong as they secured a 16-14 win to take it to their pick of Ancient.
While Ancient hasn't been a map that M80 have seemed very familiar on, they chose it anyways. The gamble seemed to have worked out as a back-and-forth first half T-side led to a much more successful CT-side, where the Americans claimed a 13-10 victory to win the series out 2-0.
M80, now 2-1 in group play, just need one more victory to advance in the tournament.
