Liquid negotiating with benched Danish star, per insider
According to Russian insider Alexey "OverDrive" Birukov, Liquid have now entered talks with former Heroic IGL and AWPer Casper "cadiaN" Møller after initially being one of their potential landing spots. OverDrive continued to say that Liquid was cadiaN's "highest priority". It's a shock move for Liquid, who had initially attempted their European rebuild with less-expensive talent in Aleks "Rainwaker" Petrov and Robert "Patsi" Isyanov. The last time Liquid sought after a player of this caliber was when Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo joined the organization in 2021.
On October 6th, Heroic announced that they had mutually agreed with cadiaN for the IGL to move to the bench after "differing visions" for the future of the lineup. Under cadiaN's leadership, Heroic transformed into one of the most feared teams in the world noted for their unique playstyle.
Despite that, the squad could not capture as many trophies as they had hoped, notably losing at the 2022 IEM Rio and 2023 BLAST.tv Paris Majors.
With cadiaN potentially joining Liquid, it creates a unique situation where Josh "oSee" Ohm becomes an odd-man out due to the role clashes with the AWP. oSee, indisputably North America's best AWPer at the moment, has been part of the Liquid set-up since his transfer from Extra Salt in late 2021 and has blossomed into a stable force on the team.
However, cadiaN noted in an interview with Luis Mira that he was open to changing his own roles so long as what he was joining would be a "perfect fit". This would also include giving up the IGL role, which Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis currently occupies.
Dust2.us reached out to Liquid for comment, however, a representative has declined to comment.
