FaZe send NAVI packing from Sydney
FaZe are continuing their lower bracket run, after falling there in the first match, with an overtime loss against GamerLegion. FaZe faced Vitality in their first game facing elimination and they defeated the most recent Major champions. Today they managed to stay alive after beating NAVI, who came to IEM Sydney without Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev.
Håvard "rain" Nygaard led the squad in rating with 1.37, but everyone except IGL Finn "karrigan" Andersen scored over 1.10 of rating. On NAVI's side, the absence of s1mple was very clear since day one of the event, but today Andrey "B1ad3" Gorodenskiy couldn't be saved, as the stars of the team didn't put up as good numbers as in the past days.
The series started off in Overpass and contrary to what happened against Vitality, FaZe managed to get a great start with an early 7-1 lead on the T-side. NAVI would get closer, but FaZe didn't lose control of the map at any time and ended it with a 13-7 win.
NAVI would answer back with a great T-side Mirage, reaching halftime 10-2 ahead. Despite winning the second-half pistol, FaZe was not able to have a good enough T-side and NAVI won the map 13-4.
The Inferno decider started with FaZe not allowing NAVI to do much damage on the T-side, with Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken and company winning the CT-side 9-3. Going into the second half, FaZe reached 11 round wins, but NAVI showed some signs of life winning four in a row. It was too late, though, as FaZe closed the map and series 13-7.
FaZe will now get a shot at revenge against GamerLegion in the lower bracket grand final, for the last spot in the playoffs of Group A. The series will happen Wednesday 01:30AM.
