floppy on CS2: "it just doesn't really feel that cool"
Complexity have taken down Monte, getting revenge on the Ukrainians after being eliminated from ESL Pro League Season 18 at their hands in one of the crazier matches played in recent memory. For those who forget, Counter-Strike 2 was being released at the exact same time as the match was going on, with Counter-Strike: Global Offensive also being sunset. As a result, it became incredibly difficult to play the match, with the two sides needing to play with default loadouts as the organizer raced to figure out what was going on. As for today, no shenanigans, but it was a rematch on Anubis, with Complexity getting the victory.
With the transition to CS2, Ricky "floppy" Kemery has some gripes about the game that he expressed in an interview with HLTV's Danish "Nohte" Alana released earlier today. When asked how it felt to take revenge on Monte, floppy had this to say:
That game I felt kind of useless, I wasn't really doing anything and I was more focused on trying to hear what was going on with the in-game audio the whole game. For me personally, it doesn't really feel that rewarding at the moment with the state of the game, it just doesn't really feel that cool.
While it's understandable that floppy was frustrated with his own play, only recording nine kills while posting a 0.77 HLTV Rating, it was notable that his comments were more about the game rather his own gameplay. He continued on;
The game isn't in its most polished state right now and it doesn't feel as rewarding because of that. There's so many things that can be improved upon in my opinion. It's not like it's unfair, but it's more just... I don't know, it feels kind of lame to me the way the game is right now.
The rifler has three main complaints about the game so far; the audio, holding angles, and spraying. Those issues have been resonated by many in the community, with the audio changes one of the most significant adjustments so far. Valve has introduced a number of new audio settings for players, but right now players are struggling with the changes. As for holding angles, if you've spent time on Twitter or Reddit, you've seen multiple clips of players complaining about dying while the opponent is behind a wall.
Spraying has also been scrutinized with no good technical explanation as to why so many are feeling the difference. With the new platform and new game, it seems that it might just be a new feeling that everyone has to adjust to. As for when floppy thinks that things might get back to 'normal', it will take some time. "This game is not going to be ready for another couple of months, in my opinion."
