Complexity win first CS2 match against Monte
At the dawn of the CS2 era, the first event across the horizon is IEM Sydney 2023. To get this event started, Complexity faced Monte in the opening match in their first and hopefully last CS2 best-of-one. After the picks and bans settled, the two faced off on what is likely both teams' favorite map, Anubis.
Complexity's first CS2 round left a bit to be desired. Chopped up by the T-side pistols of Monte, the Ukrainian team got off to a hot start. Following a near-zero investment in the second round, Complexity looked to get their game started in the third, but that was shut down by Monte as well. Another small buy left the scoreboard in an awful circumstance, 4-0 in favor of Monte. Complexity clawed one back but earned nothing off the back as Monte rocketed up to six. However, once Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli had his hands on the big green, it was lights out. Complexity evened up the scoreline at the half.
Once again, the pistols were underwhelming from Complexity as they were unable to secure their first lead out of the halftime break. Another non-investment took the scoreline to 8-6. Complexity's buys though finally broke through the barrier and they started the ball rolling, first to 8-7, then evened up the scoreline. Monte made things competitive at times, but some absolutely immaculate rounds from Johnny "JT" Theodosiou, including back-to-back clutches with an ace sprinkled within, kept them at arm's length. A classic Complexity loss to a force buy to make the scoreline 11-9 threatened to careen the game into disarray, but Complexity held strong and finished out the game 13-9.
Complexity now face G2 who narrowly defeated hometown heroes Grayhound 13-11 in a best-of-three. This match takes place at Today 10:30PM.
