M80 look to continue undefeated in Europe
M80 showed great mental capacity in their first series of CCT East Europe Series 3, coming back from a map down to win the match against a Romanian team, Nexus. Today, October 17th, they will face a tougher challenger, who just took down Falcons 2-0, Sampi.
Sampi is a Slovakian team, ranked #96 by HLTV, with an average age even younger than M80's 23.3-year-old squad, with just 21.4 average years between the five Slovakian players. The team has been on a low, recently, but the win against Falcons just two days ago might give them another life.
The star of the show against Nexus, which had a rough start, was none other than Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa, who ended the series with a 1.40 rating and a 101.0 ADR. Despite early reports saying and showing that AWPers will be falling short of expectations during the early days of CS2, Adam "WolfY" Andersson was a key factor in M80's win over Nexus, and he is hoping to replicate that today against Sampi.
For Sampi this is yet another tier two tournament, as the team only took a month's break during June and since then they have been playing consecutive tournaments and qualifiers. It has not proved fruitful, though, as the team's best result was a second-place finish during CCT East Europe Series 1, losing in the grand final against Russian squad, Space. During their run, Sampi beat the likes of OG, 9 Pandas and 500.
M80 should have the upper hand against Sampi, but this being an online event against a team that plays every online event possible, things can turn ugly if the North Americans don't enter the server focused on winning.
