Chaos through to FLASHPOINT Global Qualifier
Joshua "steel" Nissan's Chaos lineup have claimed a first place finish in the FLASHPOINT Closed Qualifier after going undefeated in the upper bracket, with their run culminating in a 2-0 series win over eUnited.
The upper bracket final showdown between the two sides kicked off on Chaos' pick of Dust2, with eUnited managing to go blow-for-blow early on as the two teams traded the lead back-and-forth. The latter portion of the half went firmly in the favor of Chaos however, seeing steel and Owen "smooya" Butterfield lead the way for their side to take a 9-6 lead at the break.
A pistol win for eUnited to kick off the second half seemed set to make the map a close affair, but a force-buy reply from Chaos swung the momentum of the map back the way of steel and company as they quickly cruised to a 16-8 finish.
Chaos continued to reign supreme as eUnited's pick of Overpass got underway, securing an early 7-2 lead on the offensive. Ryan "freakazoid" Abadir's troops fought back with a string of four rounds to keep the scoreline competitive, but once again found themselves trailing by three rounds at halftime.
A stellar showing from smooya kept eUnited firmly at bay as Chaos kicked off their CT-side with a string of five rounds, putting them moments away from a map victory at 14-6. eUnited began to battle back as they won five of their own, but smooya's reign of terror continued as he posted 33 kills and a 1.94 rating to help Chaos close out the series with a 16-11 win.
Chaos are joined on the Global Qualifier team list by AVEZ who topped the 32-team European Closed Qualifier, and Isurus, who were the upper bracket victors of the South American Closed Qualifier. eUnited will have a second chance to secure a spot in Los Angeles as they will take on the winner of the lower bracket finals, with the match set to kick off at 10 PM EST.
