Orgless teams triumph in ACE Masters semifinals
The semifinals of the ACE Masters Blast Fall qualifier wrapped up last night with quite unexpected results for the two orgless teams left in contention. In two three-map series, Forsaken managed to take down Nouns while Party Astronauts notched a win against Wildcard.
The Party Astronauts vs. Wildcard series began with PA firmly in the driver's seat as they won Nuke 16-9 after a 10-5 opening CT-side. This was followed up by a comeback performance by Wildcard on Ancient, as Brett "brett" Rhein led the server on the road to a 16-8 win to force a third map after a near-perfect second-half T-side. Map three, Inferno, would ultimately be an overtime affair, with Party Astronauts sneaking out ahead to take the map 19-16 after a renewed performance from Connor "chop" Sullivan after a weak showing on Ancient.
The night's other series between Nouns and Forsaken began with Nouns in the lead as they claimed Inferno 16-10 after winning their T-side 10-5. This win was quickly answered on the server by Forsaken, with Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz's own troops winning Overpass 16-9. With the series tied up, a flash of brilliance from Gage "Infinite" Green was the deciding factor for Forsaken as he dominated the server allowing Forsaken to win Inferno 16-12 and take the series 2-1.
With all but the finals concluded, Party Astronauts and Forsaken will face off tonight at 06:00PM to see who will join the Americas top teams (and TheMongolz and Liquid) in the BLAST Premier Fall Americas Showdown.
