Complexity fall to BIG in first Rio qualifier
Complexity have fallen short of reaching the ESL One Rio Europe Closed Qualifier after a 2-1 loss to BIG in the first qualifier for the event.
The North America-based European team had a fairly easy run to the semifinals, only surrendering double-digit rounds to Patrik "Zero" Žúdel's iqfighters and Bulgarian side SKADE before taking on BIG.
The series against the German side did not get off to a good start for Complexity, as they found themselves trailing 5-1 on their own map pick. However, an eight round tear saw them finish the half 9-6. Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke and co. did not waste the opportunity, closing out the map 16-10.
Complexity looked poised to put up a big defensive side as Inferno got underway, rushing out to a 6-2 lead. They would win no further rounds on their CT half, however, and only one more in the map before BIG steamrolled to a 16-7 win.
Dust2 played out similarly, with a large streak seeing BIG end the first half up 9-6. A CT-side pistol win amounted to Complexity's last gasp, as they were only able to secure two more rounds before the Germans closed out the map and series.
Complexity will take another crack at reaching the Closed Qualifier on February 4-5th, which are also the dates of the second open qualifier for North America.
