Complexity set to play European ESL One Rio 2020 Major qualifiers
William "RUSH" Wierzba has announced that Complexity will indeed be playing the European open qualifiers for ESL One Rio 2020.
This is due to the team currently having a majority European roster, therefore being required by ESL's rules to play from Europe.
Initially, the team believed that they would be able to play from North America based on the rules used for StarLadder Major Berlin. However, the most recent revision of ESL's rulebook removed the provision allowing teams to apply to play in a different region.
This issue was further compounded by an early draft of ESL's rulebook that had misleading wording when clarifying the difference between home regions and home sub-regions. Teams have been allowed to change sub-region for numerous Majors, allowing teams like FURIA and oNe to play from North America instead of traveling back to South America.
Complexity are currently signed up for the first European open qualifier, which is set to play out on January 31st. At the time of publication, the most notable teams Complexity are likely to face off against are BIG, Sprout, HAVU, and Dignitas; who will be making their debut since reassembling the 2014 Ninjas in Pyjamas lineup.
