UPDATE: Complexity k0nfig-ure poizon-ous new roster
Complexity have confirmed the additions of Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke and Valentin "poizon" Vasilev, two players who were linked with moves to the team by French publication 1pv.fr early last week.
The Danish and Bulgarian imports arrive in the team as replacements for Rory "dephh" Jackson and Shahzeb "ShahZaM" Khan, with the former player being released after three and a half years with the team and the latter finding himself placed on the bench at the end of October. The changing of guard sees the team's youngest member, Owen "oBo" Schlatter, the only player left standing from Complexity's pre-StarLadder Major lineup.
The move marks k0nfig's second journey to North America, having previously played under the Danish-North American iteration of the OpTic roster in 2018. Although he will no longer be reunited with ShahZaM as a result of his benching, k0nfig will have the opportunity to play under the leadership of Benjamin "blameF" Bremer for the first time as he looks to improve upon his lackluster form in recent months.
poizon arrives in the team after a breakout performance over the past two years on Bpro and Windigo, averaging a 1.20 rating in the past three months. The player is the latest Bulgarian sensation to make his way onto a top team, with Evil Geniuses currently fielding Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov and a report from Jarek "DeKay" Lewis recently linking Georgi "SHiPZ" Grigorov to talks with Gen.G alongside Damian "daps" Steele and Timothy "autimatic" Ta.
The addition of the duo leaves Complexity with a majority-European roster. It is currently unknown whether the team would have to fight through the European Minor as a result, or whether changes to the rulebook prior to the StarLadder Major would allow for them to compete at the Americas Minor instead.
Complexity now has:
- Owen "oBo" Schlatter
- Benjamin "blameF" Bremer
- William "RUSH" Wierzba
- Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke
- Valentin "poizon" Vasilev
- Jamie "keita" Hall (Coach)
- Shahzeb "ShahZaM" Khan (Inactive)
UPDATE: An earlier version of this article stated that Complexity would debut with their new roster at the second stage of ESL Pro League Season 10. A statement from Complexity CEO Jason Lake has since clarified that the team will be unable to participate in the second stage as both k0nfig and poizon have already played for other teams during the current season.
