FlyQuest RED win another ESL Impact Cash Cup
The return of the ESL Impact Cash Cups after the player back saw Shimmer win two in a row, with both events not having FlyQuest RED participating. After that, Shimmer did not participate in the following tournament as RED breezed to and through the final, winning it.
This past weekend, fans finally got to see FlyQuest RED and the new-look Shimmer battle it out on the server for the first-place prize. In a very tight series, RED won ESL Impact Cash Cup Summer #4.
Before talking about the games, this is the first time since January 2022 that an ESL Impact Cash Cup has had ten or more teams competing in two straight tournaments, and only the fifth time the event has had ten or more teams in general, with the highest number of teams participating having been twelve, during July 2022.
Both FlyQuest RED and Shimmer had a calm path to the final, with RED beating 5 blahajs, Anna "lovergirl" Gutierrez's team, and then FLUFFY AIMERS White, not allowing anyone to get to ten rounds. Shimmer beat Totsugeki, former Saints' player, Anna "buhnny" Cheung's new team, and BeepBeep, also not allowing their opponents to reach double digits any time.
The grand final was not so calm for any of the two teams. The first map was Mirage, picked by Shimmer, and they justified the pick during the first half going into halftime ahead 9-6. Unfortunately for Shimmer, FlyQuest RED, on the back of a huge performance from Vivienne "BiBiAhn" Quach, managed to go 10-4 in the second half, and win the map 16-13.
The second map was Ancient, picked by FlyQuest RED, and despite the 11-4 first half from RED, things could have gone wayward thanks to a ten-round streak from Shimmer, who managed to get ahead 14-11 but couldn't close out the game, as FlyQuest RED got their things together and turned the game in their favor 16-14.
With this win, FlyQuest RED claim another $750.
1. FlyQuest RED - $750
2. Shimmer - $250
3-4. FLUFFY AIMERS White
3-4. BeepBeep
