Liquid relegated to knockouts
Liquid and FaZe met once more with a battle for 1st place in Group C and a direct invite to the BLAST Premier Fall Finals on the line. FaZe was looking for revenge against Liquid who beat them in the second round, while Liquid was hoping their new European lineup might propel them to instant success.
The match began on FaZe's pick of Overpass, a traditionally strong map for Liquid. This time around, it would not be for Liquid as FaZe looked dominant from the start. Finn "karrigan" Andersen was the clear difference maker for FaZe as he topped the scoreboard and propelled his European side to a 10-5 T-side before Robin "ropz" Kool would assist in closing it out 16-7.
Liquid finally got a reprieve by heading to their own pick of Ancient, a map they beat FaZe on just a few days ago. This time, however, it was not in the cards for Liquid to secure their own victory. With Keith "NAF" Markovic finding his form after an incredibly disappointing Overpass, it would be too little too late as the rest of the squad were unable to have an answer for both FaZe's CT and T sides as they would lose 16-11.
Liquid will now head to the second knockout round where they meet the winner of Astralis v. Complexity.
