Complexity call on sub amid visa issues
Visa issues have once again hit Complexity as Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli's passport has once again been the subject of scrutiny for American immigration. As Complexity CS:GO General Manager Graham "messioso" Pitt revealed earlier during the BLAST.tv Paris Major Challengers Stage, the Norweigen AWPer had a very real chance of missing out on the Texas event.
Now, it appears that might be the case as Complexity have enlisted the help of former Envy and Extra Salt AWPer and rifler Aran "Sonic" Groesbeek. The player is extremely familiar with the squad, having played with Ioannis "JT" Theodosiou and Justin "FaNg" Coakley. That familiarity is likely the reason for the player's recent call up.
The first signs of the possible substitution came after it appeared on ESL's tweet of the confirmed rosters in the upcoming event. Earlier today, Sonic posted videos on his Instagram story that he was at the event in Dallas with the team. And most notably, the team welcome card from ESL makes no mention of hallzerk.
After Sonic stepped down from Extra Salt and was replaced by Ricky "floppy" Kemery, the South African player bounced around and even flirted with a move to Davenport University, which ultimately fell through. He played on Nixuh in late half of 2022, but has since been largely inactive from the top tier professional scene.
Complexity are looking to bounce back from a disappointing Major appearance, with their only win coming in their opening match against eventual Major finalists GamerLegion. For the the North American team, they were hoping that Dallas would be a comfort bounce-back game on home turf where they could impress at the highest level, but unfortunately they might be out of the count before it gets started.
Complexity's registered roster for IEM Dallas is:
-
Johnny "JT" Theodosiou
-
Justin "FaNg" Coakley
-
Ricky "floppy" Kemery
-
Michael "Grim" Wince
-
Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli
-
Aran "Sonic" Groesbeek (Substitute)
-
Tiaan "T.c" Coertzen (Coach)
The team's first match is scheduled for IEM Dallas versus ENCE in a BO1, scheduled for tomorrow at 02:30PM. Speaking to messioso, Dust2.us can confirm that Sonic has travelled to Dallas to ensure Complexity have five eligible players and are able to compete, however, he did not dismiss the possibility of hallzerk making it to the event at some point.
