Despite defeat, oSee gave time for an interview

oSee: "We just faltered in a lot of clutch situations"

NA's prodigal AWPer gave his thoughts after the tough playoff loss.

Following their 0-2 loss to Apeks, Liquid's Josh "oSee" Ohm took time after being eliminated from the BLAST.tv Paris Major to have a chat with Dust2.us to give his assessment of his performance, team, opponents, and more.

When reflecting on his growth, his goals, and the overall journey since joining Liquid, this is what oSee had to say about whether he is satisfied.

Coming off the tough loss, where do you see yourself having started this year and joining this team and making these events and now getting quarterfinals, would you feel that you've been satisfied enough?

I wouldn't say so. We had a plan drawn out since the beginning of the year where we wanted to put our full focus on which was the Major. We said that even though we wanted to play well in the tournaments before, it was all just to get in form, to make sure we were at our peak at the Major. And it's really sad because it felt like we were getting to that peak in practice and the Legends Stage as well.

We were playing really well and to fall face flat in the playoffs, it's tough. I think I could speak for everybody on my team as well; we're not satisfied with how this year has been going but there's only so much you can do, and we just have to move on and learn from it. We have Dallas coming up as well, so that's a tournament that we're going to try and win as well, but I don't think we're too satisfied yet.

We saw a massive development in energy throughout the Major for oSee, at times being the vocal leader. When diving into the newfound growth, this is what he had to say.

Yeah, I think it kind of took me a while to get comfortable on stage and especially that first map, I think everyone just started off really cold. Maybe the nerves got to them or whatever, but this definitely feels like I'm getting into my groove on stage. It’s just today, I don't know, a lot of things went wrong, like myself individually — I didn't play the best I could have.

And then, I think as a team we just faltered in a lot of clutch situations and tight situations that we usually win in. When you lose rounds like that, it's tough, and props to Apeks honestly; they played really well. They caught us off guard a lot; they were playing well as a team, finding a lot at picks, and playing their clutch situations really well. It's tough to play against a team that's doing all that stuff right.

oSee didn't shy away from his praises for Apeks and their well put gameplan, even giving props to his opponents in their successful gameplan.

I think they're really good at slowing down rounds in the mid-rounds at letting their individuals shine in those moments. There are a lot of situations in that game where their players would make a lot of contact plays and their individuals would have big kills and big entries. It's really tough to play against a team like that when individually you're not feeling the best at that at that moment, and they're just playing more of like a puggy style. But it works for them and, you know, they have some sick aim on that team. We're going to have to look back at it and see what we could have done better in those situations, but I have to give props to them as well.

Despite elimination, it is not all doom and gloom from the Liquid camp. When asked, oSee had some positive insight to offer to the fans.

I think one positive was that everyone stayed in it mentally, throughout the whole thing. No matter even when we're down 0-2 in the Challengers Stage, we all put a lot of work in and we all had full faith in each other, and it got us to here. Maybe if we didn't do that, we wouldn't even be here talking, so that's definitely one positive that we can take away. But I think there are a lot more things... I wouldn’t say negatives, moreso things that just shine [a light] on our weaknesses and yeah, it’s tough.

Despite the continued growth, oSee is still hungry for more.

I think I showed up at certain points, but I still wasn't really satisfied with how I played because in practice and whatnot I was playing really well. In these match situations, it's just a lot different because teams obviously have their own set game plan that they're going to play against you and try to counter you. You also have to think about a game plan for yourself, so it's a little different from practice, but I still feel like I could have done more for sure. It's still good to see an improvement, but I still think I have a lot to improve on.

oSee and his teammates will look to bounce back at the domestic IEM Dallas, beginning just ten days from now where they'll kick off against Astralis.
