yur's walker certainly has a unique style

Why does walker play with the keyboard on his lap?

The yur player revealed the history behind his habit in an interview with Dust2.us.

Walker "walker" Harris, a player for yur, has made the rounds on Counter-Strike related forums and threads due to his peculiar setup. As you can see in the header image and following clip, walker has his keyboard resting on his lap while playing, as opposed to the almost ubiquitous table top.

A post with an image of walker's playing position reached over 1,000 upvotes on the "/r/globaloffensive" subreddit, inviting many players to question and attempt to explain his unusual habit. The top comment believes it stems from "old school arena shooter shit", while another says playing with a keyboard on the lap is "pretty common among older quake players". One more guessed that walker was used to playing on a "slidable keyboard rack present under the table".

Dust2.us, live covering the Americas RMR in Monterrey, asked walker about his setup, and believe it or not, it's none of the reasons listed above.

walker said that when his father was first building a PC for walker to play on, he did not have a desk. So, walker played sitting on his bed. He had his computer in front of him, his keyboard on his lap, and his mouse resting on a speaker. He became used to this peculiar setup and once he was able to play on a desk, he left behind the speaker, but continued playing with his keyboard resting comfortably on his lap.

After the interview, walker also posted the explanation on Twitter, satisfying his fans' cravings for an explanation.

His strange technique hasn't seemed to slow him down, as walker was able to compete among the top 16 teams at the Americas RMR. Although his team, yur, was eliminated 0-2, as the only team without organizational support, it's a miracle they were able to attend at all.
