Liquid outlast Astralis in Odense
The opening match of the ESL Pro League Season 6 Finals for the depleted sides of Liquid and Astralis was determined to be slugged out on Mirage, and slug it out they did.
Liquid, starting on the Terrorist side, were able to take the first pistol, as well as the two following rounds, before Astralis wrested control of the half away from them by quickly tying the score at 3-3. Another three round run by the North Americans would represent their offensive output for the half, as Astralis would end it with a 9-6 lead.
The second half began as a mirror image of the first, with Astralis taking the pistol and following rounds, with Liquid getting on the board in round 19. Sporting a defense that was equally up to the task as that of the Danes, Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken and company were able to force overtime.
The first pair of overtime halves would again wind up in a deadlock, though Liquid were surely lifted by Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski seemingly coming to life. In the second OT, Liquid's attacks overwhelmed the Danish side, and they took two rounds decisvely with three members left alive. The North Americans were eventually able to take it over the line, defeating Astralis 20-22.
Liquid now sit at 1-0 in their group, but are sure to continue being tested as their next tilt will see them square off against world #2 FaZe Clan.
