OpTic penalized for missing EPL roster deadline
ESL have announced that OpTic will be assess one Major penalty point for failure to meet the league's August 17th roster deadline (which was already extended from the 15th). The result will be a loss of 10% of the prize money that the team win this season, which could be up to $225,000 if they were to manage to win the season LAN Finals.
OpTic were forced to scramble after Tarik "tarik" Celik and Will "RUSH" Wierzba were acquired by domestic rival Cloud9. The organization partially announced their new European squad on August 21st - four days after the roster deadline, and only just completed the team with Kevin "HS" Tarn as a result of prolonged negotiations with PENTA.
The good news for the European transplants is that the penalty is purely a financial one, it will not affect their standing in the ESL Pro League. The penalized money will be redistributed amongst the remaining teams in the league at the end of the season.
OpTic are next in action September 5th, against Splyce. It will be the first time the team will be playing with a majority of their players in North America, as a result of a previous sanction against the team.
