Cloud9 ease past SoaR; to CyberPowerPC finals

In a dominant 2-0 series, Cloud9 only gave up 10 rounds across both maps to SoaR and secured their spot in the grand finals.

The second semifinal of the CyberPowerPC Extreme Gaming Series Winter 2017 began on Mirage, with Cloud9 starting on the CT-side with a shakey defense. Being able to secure two bomb plants within the first two rounds gave SoaR a solid economy for an early gun buy, though Cloud9 wouldn't allow them to close anything out. It wasnt until round 10 that SoaR put anything on the scoreboard, and that would turn out to be the only round they claimed all game. Going into their T-side offense with a 14-1 lead, Cloud9 quickly secured the remaining two rounds they needed to bring it to 16-1, and the next map.

SoaR went into their T-side of Inferno as if Mirage never happened. With a compelling four round lead to kick things off, three of which ended in bomb explosions, they were sitting pretty on a hefty economy that would allow them to endure any hiccups from Cloud9. When the CT's were able to finally piece together a full buy, they bunkered down and played the fundamentals. From round 5 until the half Cloud9 could not be shaken and went into their Terrorist side with a favorable 10-5 score. Again, SoaR took the early control of the half by claiming the pistol and two subsequent eco rounds before they lost control again. Cloud9's aggressive playstyle, coupled with SoaR's inability to seal the cracks in their defense, resulted in C9 closing out the map 16-9 and the series 2-0.

Dust2 Birthday cake!
It's fairly easy to say at this point that Cloud9 and Liquid are the only NA teams that can compete internationally consistently. I wonder how long it will be until another team comes up to contest their spots.

I personally think Misfits look promising. With a player like Amanek putting up high numbers as well as Sick, Misfits are beginning to develop great firepower. ShahZam is not needed to carry the team, and seangares' use of these players is very effective.

I think in the near future, they will prove themselves to be an international contender for bigger titles.
