Liquid make it look easy
After a tough opening match against Movistar Riders, Liquid looked to improve their performance in facing a familiar foe from home. Evil Geniuses were looking to end a 15-match loss skid in ESL Pro League, alongside being the only team in Group D without a single map win so far. The match began on EG's pick of Inferno, where the two duked it out.
The Geniuses began their match by winning their T-side pistol and putting the momentum on their side, however it would be shortlived. After clawing to a 4-3 lead, Liquid put the pedal to the medal and responded by winning the next seven rounds to make it a 10-5 half. With the sides switched and Liquid forced to make the moves, there was hope that EG could bring back some rounds. That would not be the case as Liquid won their T-side pistol and comfortably won the half to finish the game 16-7.
Shifting to Liquid's pick of Dust2, the Geniuses seemed much more comfortable on their CT side as they once again won the first pistol, but this time improved their opening score to 6-2. However, Liquid started to figure out their offense and went on a 6-1 run to finish the half in their favor, 8-7. EG evened it out by winning their second pistol of the map and third of the match, however, Liquid immediately responded in the second round forcebuy. Liquid would not let up after and cruised to a 16-8 map victory.
Liquid will have a tough matchup tomorrow, as they are set to face Brazilian heavyweights FURIA to decide which of the two squads will go 3-0 in the group. Evil Geniuses meanwhile will still be looking to secure the ever-elusive EPL series victory, this time against fellow 0-2 side Eternal Fire.
