Imperial lose in Sweden
Gabriel "FalleN" Toldeo will not be playing in the playoffs of the Pinnacle Cup Championship this weekend after being eliminated 0-2 by the Swedes on Finest. It's a disappointing result from a team that impressed during the Major.
The match began on Imperial's pick of Overpass, where the Brazilians mounted a strong offense. In a very back-and-forth first half, Finest were able to bring the momentum and close it out 9-6. With Imperial now headed towards the more favorable defense, they appeared to be in a comfortable position to close out the first map. Despite Finest winning the pistol, Imperial were able to win the second round sparking hopes and dreams of a win. However, it was not to be as Finest won the next five rounds en-route to closing out the map 16-9.
Looking to bounce back, Imperial and Finest now headed to Vertigo where the Swedes took a strong first half position, however Imperial roared back to take the lead 6-5. Despite having the momentum, Imperial lost the subsequent four rounds to give a 9-6 lead away on their defensive side. With the momentum firmly in the hands of Finest, they continued the second half of Vertigo by winning their fourth pistol of the match, only to lose the next three rounds and make the game close at 10-9. And the first half, while it looked like Imperial could mount a comeback, they fell into a losing streak of six rounds and ended up losing the entire map 16-9, once again.
Imperial's departure means that the three Americas representatives were unable to make it past the group stage of the Pinnacle Cup Championship.
